Corporate Escapades by T.K. Ambers is a new contemporary romance that is scandalous fun for everyone! I received an ARC of this book, and I couldn’t wait to dive right in! Now, I’m excited to tell you all about it. It releases on April 8, 2025, and is available for Kindle and Kindle Unlimited as well. So, if you’re a romance reader who loves getting books in KU, you’re in luck.
Before we start, a couple of content warnings: This book has adult themes and subjects of loss.
Now, let’s get into what it’s all about.
The dedication lets us know that the author suffered a heart-wrenching loss in the middle of writing this novel, and dedicates the book to those she lost, and those who loved them as well. This sets a tone for the story we’re about to consume.
Vic Alarie and Paris DeMarcé may appear to be careless party animals enjoying their family’s wealth, but they are considerably more complex than their public personas, as we will soon learn. The Alarie DeMarcé Group’s heirs are given a humiliating wake-up call following a shared tragedy and a series of disastrous decisions: rise from the bottom of the organization or risk losing their heritage entirely. Paris and Vic are thrust together on a crash course in responsibility, teamwork, and, surprisingly, love, from fancy boardrooms to gritty event settings.
I was drawn in from the very first page and didn’t want to put the book down.
This work is unique because it strikes a balance between its clichés – enemies to lovers, corporate sabotage, rock-bottom revival – and genuine emotion. Corporate Escapades resonates because of its emotional thread of bereavement, repentance, and healing, even as the professional shenanigans and family conflict provide humor and intrigue. Although one subplot felt a little overbearing, it didn’t detract from the entire experience, and supporting characters like Mya and Chase provide loyalty and humor.
The writing is a perfect example of “show, don’t tell” and it pulls us into the story, as if we are living it right alongside the characters. It makes it so easy to immerse yourself in what’s happening.
Although Ambers’s writing is full of style and wit, she also adds unexpected depth to what could have been a lighthearted romantic comedy. It’s clever and fast-paced, and although if the characters lead lavish lives, their identity and loss issues feel realistic and relevant. Scandal, sabotage, and glamour are all present, along with just enough spice to keep things interesting.
I found the characters relatable and real, and I wanted to root for them and their success. The dialogue is natural and flows well, and gives you more depth and inside into each character’s personality. I thought that I wouldn’t like Paris and Vic – that they might just be spoiled brats – but I found myself diving deeper into their backgrounds and stories, helping me to understand their motivations.
And most of all, I wanted them to have peace and happiness – something we all deserve in this big, crazy world. It’s very much a story about rebuilding from the inside out, and I think there are elements we can all find familiar, and lessons we can each learn from. It was my first read from this author, but I would happily read more.
To sum it up, Corporate Escapades is clumsy, emotional, and utterly delightful. If you want complex characters, searing heat, and redemptive arcs in a lavish, high-drama atmosphere, this is for you.
