Relationships: Four Curvy Girl Stories – Book Review

by Quantiea Oppong

I didn’t expect to finish all four stories in one sitting, but here we are. Quantiea Oppong’s Relationships: Four Curvy Girl Stories pulled me in from the first chapter and I just never put it down. This is a new release that just came out in July of this year, and I’m so excited to tell you why I loved it in this spoiler-free review.

First, I want to say thank you so much to the author for the review copy of this fantastic book.

This collection brings together four romance stories, each one following a different woman on her own journey through life, love, and learning to believe in herself. Every story hit me in a different way, and I loved all four. I’m going to do a brief recap of each one, but one thing I can say they each have is a strong female lead.

These curvy girls overcome obstacles and heartbreak with strength and courage that will inspire you in your own life. Some parts may be difficult to read, especially if you have had similar life experiences, due to the raw honesty of the storytelling, but it’s absolutely worth it in the end. These stories will leave you forever changed.

The Heart She Carried starts the book off with Yazmin, a woman escaping an abusive relationship with nothing but her late mother’s necklace and a plane ticket. Her story is intense and emotional. You’re rooting for her from page one, holding your breath right alongside her. Watching her find the courage to start over gave me chills in the best way.

Strong Enough to Love Again follows Mia after a painful breakup. She throws herself into a journey of self-improvement and ends up meeting someone who sees her for exactly who she is. This one really drives home a message I think more people need to hear: you don’t have to change yourself to deserve love.

The Sister I Would Find takes a completely different turn with a suspenseful storyline. Destiny gets a desperate call from her missing sister and teams up with an FBI agent who has been in love with her for years. This one kept me turning pages fast. The mix of danger and slow-burn romance is so well done.

And then there’s Big Dreams and Buttercream Kisses, which made me smile from start to finish. Nia is trying to get her bakery off the ground with a broken mixer and a whole lot of heart. The humor in this story is so natural, and the love interest? The kind of guy whose smile makes you forget what you were saying. We’ve all been there.

What I love most about this collection is how real these women feel. They’re not waiting around for someone to save them. They’re building lives, facing hard things, and finding love along the way. Every story celebrates curvy women living full, beautiful, complicated lives, and that representation matters so much.

Quantiea Oppong has a gift for writing characters you care about immediately. The emotions feel honest. The romances feel earned. And the message underneath it all is simple but powerful: the most important relationship you’ll ever have starts with believing in yourself.

If you love heartfelt romance, strong women, family bonds, and stories that leave you feeling hopeful, pick this one up. You won’t regret it. It’s five stars from me!

Relationships: Four Curvy Girl Stories is available now on Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions. Also free to read in Kindle Unlimited.
