Star Maker: A Friends to Lovers Rockstar Romance (The Star Maker Series Book 1)

by Jessa Nevins

I recently had the pleasure of reading “Star Maker: A Friends to Lovers Rockstar Romance” by Jessa Nevins from an advanced reader’s copy, and I have to say that this book was a fantastic read! I’ve recently gotten into rockstar romance (I know, I’m late to the party) and I’ve been reading some great new titles. This is definitely one to add to the list and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

This book was perfect for me because I love romance and the bright 80s music scene. Born in the 80s, I was more a child of the 90s, but I’ve always been obsessed with 80s music, and with the culture in general. The cars, the clothes – all of it. So, this book does a great job of bringing that all in.

I was captivated from the first page onwards. Dialogue between characters feels real and not forced. And wee start the book with a scene that makes me want to know more about the characters and their world. The narrative centers on Kit McKenna, a driven artist manager who aspires to be a successful entertainment attorney. Kit’s voyage is interesting, but when she meets the mysterious and gifted front man of a band, Sully Fox, things get pretty hot. I was immediately drawn into their rapid relationship by their instantaneous and explosive chemistry.

It’s a fast burn, but it’s realistic. We’ve all been swept away by a whirlwind romance at least once, right?

I think one of my favorite things about “Star Maker” is how Jessa Nevins captures the vibrant 1980s Sunset Strip. I had the impression that I had traveled back in time because of how realistically the glamor, glamour, and down-to-earth realities of the music business are presented. This setting was obviously created with a great deal of thought and research (and maybe personal experience?), and it gives the narrative a deep, immersive quality.

The central theme of the book is the well-developed bond between Kit and Sully. Kit’s wit and willpower strike the ideal balance against Sully’s natural talent and appeal. I turned the pages long into the night, engrossed in their growing bond and their struggles with celebrity. Throughout their emotional journey, which is full of highs and lows, I couldn’t help but cheer them on.

The depth of this rockstar romance is what makes it unique. It explores the darker, more challenging facets of living in the spotlight in addition to the glistening peaks of triumph and love. I was holding my breath when Kit and Sully’s love was put to the test because they dealt with genuine, understandable problems. The compassion and nuance with which Jessa Nevins explores these subjects enhances the story’s compelling quality.

Star Maker” raises the bar as the first novel in The Star Maker Series. You’ll be itching for more after reading this exciting, emotional book. I’m eager to follow Kit and Sully on their trip in the future. This book is a must-read if you enjoy rock ‘n’ roll dramas, captivating romances, friends-to-lovers trope, and endearing characters. If you need a new romance to dive into this summer, here it is.

The official release date of “Star Maker” is July 30. I highly recommend you to set that date on your calendar or preorder now to secure your copy!
