Thomas Holiday’s suspenseful occult horror book My World Ends With You is set in a universe where vampires and humans coexist. Malkiel, a particular kind of vampire known as a Reaper, who has a soul and has been wandering the world for ages, is the protagonist of the novel. Malkiel protects people from bizarre occurrences that are taking place all around the world while working as a firefighter. Malkiel must fight to defend himself and the planet when demons with new abilities appear from above and below and cause havoc.
I love vampire books and read every one I can find and this was an unique twist on the classic story of vampires that I really enjoyed. I loved the characters, loved the unique plot, and the writing style kept me turning the pages. And it brings what I love most about different genres – horror, fantasy, paranormal – all together in one compelling story.
Holiday’s writing style is fast-paced and engaging, making it hard to put the book down. The vivid descriptions of the fire, blood, and death that occur throughout the story add to the overall atmosphere of horror and danger. The characters, especially Malkiel, are well-developed, with intriguing backstories that keep the reader invested in their journey.
The seamless way in which My World Ends With You combines elements from the fantasy, horror, and occult genres is one of its strong points. The plot is well-written and has enough surprises to keep the reader on their toes. Finding one’s actual identity and place in the world is another subject that permeates the entire narrative, giving the plot more dimension. I love coming of age and discovering self stories. When those stories involve supernatural beings like vampires, it’s even more interesting.
Overall, My World Ends With You is an excellent read for fans of occult horror and fantasy. Holiday’s writing style and world-building make for an immersive and entertaining experience, and the plot keeps the reader engaged until the very end. I highly recommend this book.
